The images in this post aren't appearing, and I'd really like to see them.

Can someone fix that?

Great article, would be nice if you credited or referenced the Victor Milt dvd where he describes this entire concept in minute detail and shows exactly how to make a 6-bulb instrument - Light It Right - http://www.vasst.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=81&category_id=17&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=66

Hey man, great blog!
I made a 32" x 25" softbox with 5 x 25w CFLs. But my problem is that the box appears too dark and glowing rather than casting a strong soft light. Is there anything more powerful than the 25w? Or would you have any advice as to how I can make it brighter?

I have been thinking about doing something like this...Is there anyway you can give us a step by step of this process. I have a "super low budget" indie film I am shooting next month and I would love to make these in various shapes and sizes.

Awesome stuff. A few questions:

1) My only issue with CFL's is a common one, the color spectrum concerns. Pro flo lighting equipment has improved CRI's in it's bulbs (90-95), but as far as i've seen there aren't any CFL's on the market with a CRI above 82 or so.

2) This is speculation/innuendo, but i've been told that cold/"daylight" tempered CFL's at 32 watts or below, appear less "realistic" than daylight matched flo's of higher wattage?

3) Were these dimmables? I've also heard that dimmable flo's (even pro ones) have further unreliable color rendition issues?

4) Would love a price breakdown of the equipment costs for 3 five-z's cost.

Many thanks,
Jason
